DIY Clay Garden Markers

This weekend, we crafted clay garden markers. They’re perfectly imperfect and I love them.  This DIY is easy and fun to make so I’ve included a short supplies list and tutorial in case you’d like to create your own!

You Will Need
  • oven-bake clay
  • letter stamps
  • clean work surface or crafting mat
  • a rolling pin or any smooth cylindrical item
  • knife
  • oven
To Make
  1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
  2. Cut your clay into 1.5 x 1.5 cubes and roll the cubes into a ball. From there, roll the balls into cylinders, or “worms” as my kids refer to them.
  3. Use the rolling pin to flatten the tube. Round the corners and edges to give it a hand-crafted look.
  4. Use the knife to cut a diagonal in the bottom so there’s a point for it to spear into the soil.
  5. Press your letters in gently.
  6. Bake at 275 degrees F for 15 minutes on a baking sheet. Allow to cool overnight to harden completely.

Many of the crafting supplies and tools I use for the projects in this journal, including the exact clay and letter stamp set I used, can be found in my Homeschool & Craft Amazon page.
