Calendula Oatmeal Bath

I have battled eczema since I was a young child and the winter months make it flare up more than usual. This calendula oatmeal bath soothes eczema and itchy winter skin and takes just minutes to make with ingredients you likely have around your home (or in your greenhouse or window sill).

For the first three ingredients, I use equal parts in whatever measurement works best for the amount I would like to make. If I'm making a small batch for myself, ¼ cup of each is a perfect amount. If I'd like to make a slightly larger batch to share, I would incorporate 1 cup of each.

You Will Need

  • dried calendula (1 part)
  • oatmeal (1 part)
  • baking soda (1 part)
  • 5 drops of your favorite essential oil for every ¼ c oatmeal used (chamomile, lavender and citruses are my favorite here)

To Make

Grind the first three ingredients in a food processor or blender and then stir in your essential oils. Transfer to a muslin bag and add to your bath, squeezing it every now and then to release the soothing properties into the water.
